Get that kettle off the stove! We are living in 2013, and ain’t nobody got time for that.
I cannot dismiss this new method of tea-making I discovered just a few weeks ago.
I was inspired by my mother’s friend who showed me an old method of making southern sun tea. I did a little rendition, creating my own version, and now I’m seriously obsessed.
While letting tea steep in hot water may extract more flavor and antioxidants from the herbs, it’s so not your only option to reap the undeniable mood and physical benefits of tea.
Plus, this new method of tea drinking is proven to be summertime fine.
Take your favorite large glass (or mason jar if you’re trendy) and place your herbal tea bag at the bottom. Fill up the glass with ice, and don’t forget to add any extra fruits or herbs you wish to enjoy. Then, pour cold water over the ice and sip blissfully.
Why do we love this?
- It’s fast
- It’s cheap
- It’s healthy
- It’s metabolism-boosting
- It’s energy-providing
- It’s delicious
- It’s natural
You control the flavor!
The longer the tea bag steeps in the ice-water, the stronger the flavor will be. Stirring and prodding the tea bag will also release the flavor.
I personally enjoy a more mild flavor.
The best part, is it’s a great way to stay hydrated. Now that you’ve got your herby glass of ice, you can keep refilling it with fresh cold water while replenishing the ice, as needed.
Here’s my favorite skin-rejuvenating drink:
- 1 Green Tea Bag
- Mint Leaves
- 6 Cucumber Slices
- Spring Water
Make the tea in a glass, as described above, or use a shaker to combine ingredients. It’s time for tea!
